As in all the doinu zaharrak, the dantzari chooses the steps to perform the ormatxulo. Apart from the rules set out in the chapter dedicated to the doinu zaharrak, the structure of each ancient melody has to be taken into account for the choreographic composition.

This is what Juan Ignacio Iztueta says about this ancient melody:

“The Ormatxulo has 4 parts and 21 points. Two of these four parts are played twice each and the other two only once; these are the second and fourth part and each of them have two point, which is why a total of 38 points has to be danced as follows:

The first part has 8 points and the dantzari has to take 8 The second part has two points and the dantzari has to take 2

The third part has 9 points and the dantzari has to take 4, 5 The fourth part has 2 points and the dantzari has to take 2
